EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Lucerne Alpine Senior Center is searching for a dynamic, responsible individual to help us revitalize our Senior Center and return to our full schedule of programs, events, and services to fulfill our mission. 

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will oversee LASC's administration, strategic plan, and operations of our facility. Other responsibilities include budget preparation, fundraising, and community outreach. This position starts at $25/hour for a minimum of 20 hours per week, with the potential for raises at scheduled performance reviews. All duties of this position must be performed on premise. Some exceptions may apply at the discretion of the Board of Directors. 

 

Role and Responsibilities: The Executive Director and the Board of Directors collaborate toward the Center’s mission to serve local seniors through various on-going programs, services and activities addressing the needs of seniors in the Lucerne and Northshore Communities. The Executive Director represents the Center in the community and partners with other non-profits, local businesses, and government agencies to strengthen LASC’s programs and expand LASC’s community involvement.

  • Seek out, implement, and maintain funding for current and future needs of the Senior Center; including, but not limited to researching and writing grants.

  • Market and oversee use of the Center's facilities for conferences, business meetings, private events, etc.

  • Seek donations from local businesses and agencies as well as from community members, and maintain positive relationships with all donors and other funding sources.

  • Assure the Center complies with all conditions and deadlines required by funding sources and grantors.

  • Assure the Center complies with all Federal, State and local laws, regulations and ordinances.

  • Assure all program and financial records are maintained accurately and all appropriate financial information is promptly given to the Executive Accountant.

  • Establish and maintain effective communication with Board Members and staff with emphasis on keeping members apprised of all relevant issues.

  • Attend and participate in all Board, staff and committee meetings as required. Prepare a monthly report on operations and projects for the regular monthly meeting of the Board, or as requested by the Board.

  • Recruit, hire, train and discipline all staff and volunteers with the goal of creating a committed, enthusiastic and competent team.

  • Represent the Center effectively in all external communication, as needed such as before the County Board of Supervisors, media, community groups, and other senior centers.

  • Develop and provide orientation and/or training for Board, staff, volunteers as appropriate.

  • Oversee Center’s website, social media presence and public relations.

  • Recruit and implement new programs and activities to meet the needs of seniors.

  • Become familiar with policies, procedures and operations of the Thrift Store, and work collaboratively with the Thrift Store Manager as needed.

  • Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and volunteers on food service activities and programs. Including congregate meals, Meals on Wheels and food giveaways, as needed.

  • Maintain records of donations and write thank you letters to donors.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Board of the Directors.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Business or related field desirable.
    Work experience will be considered. 

  • Experience working with a Board of Directors.

  • Experience in a Non-Profit organization, 1 to 3 years preferred.

  • Demonstrated success with fund development, grant writing and fulfillment of grantor requirements.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to interact with people of all age groups.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with and retain volunteers.

  • Human Resources experience.

  • Experience with outreach marketing through email campaigns and social media platforms.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and ACCESS.

  • Web Site management.

  • Food service management.
