The Senior Center has gone solar! Our brand-new solar power system is up and running just in time to catch those first rays of Spring. With back-up batteries and a propane generator for dark days, LASC is ready for power outages and emergencies. Thanks again to the Red Cross of Northern California for helping us take this big step forward.

January 2025:  Our brand-new solar electric system should be ready to go online this month! The Red Cross is providing this system to keep our facility open to serve the Northshore communities during power outages as well as helping us meet our energy needs every day. We are grateful to the Red Cross and the businesses who made this happen, including Cal Solar, Mission Electric, BAS Roofing, Nate’s Electric, and Hopkins Construction.

Attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony were L to R: LASC Board Members Virginia Graziani, Charlie Behne, Becky Schwenger, LASC Executive Director Delores Farrell, LASC Board Members Alex Nyirendah and Paula Bowman, Red Cross Community Risk Reduction Coordinator Pastor Shannon Kimbell-Auth, Third District Supervisor Eddie Crandell, and Red Cross Community Development Risk Reduction Manager Nick Widmer.
